A widely grown varietal, yet Pinot Blanc is far from becoming an international superstar. It makes pleasant wines, mostly in the flavor profile of light-bodied chardonnays. It's mainly planted in Europe with the bulk of it in Alsace, Italy, Germany and Austria. It's gaining some ground in British Columbia and Oregon, but no one has produced one that's gained much attention. There's enough of them on the market to try and they are certainly affordable ($10-$20 range), however, I've yet to encounter one that's made we want to buy it again. They're enjoyable, but rarely memorable.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Each region has it's own style, but for the most part, Pinot Blanc is a light-bodied, fruity wine with pear and apple flavors and occasional notes of spice or minerality, depending on terroir. Soft, creamy and full, yet with some acidity to keep it fresh and lively.
